The steps below will help explain which group of contacts are the BEST for the 7+ Essentials System!
What is the Top 150 Group?
The 7 Essentials are designed to be sent to people who already know you. By Referral Only calls these people Your Top 150 Group.
Think about people you have a relationship with. Here's a list to get you started:
- Family
- Friends
- Past Clients
- Current Clients
- Social Contacts
- Business Contacts
Use this to help you decide if a person should be part of your Top 150.
The Grocery Store Test!
Let's say you're walking through the grocery store and you see them across the produce, consider your relationship and your experiences:
- Do I want to continue to keep in touch with them?
- Would I welcome referrals from them?
- Do I remember their name? Do they remember my name?
- Am I glad to see them? Are they glad to see me?
Answer "Yes!" to these questions, and the contact should be added to myClients.
Answer "NO!" to any of these questions and that is a clear indication that your time and effort would be better spent working with other contacts on your list. Don't add them to your Top 150 Group.
Who should not be in my Top 150 Group?
The 7 Essentials are designed for the people who know you. Leads and prospects don't know you yet, leave them out of your Top 150 Group.
I know you're excited to start your communications, but including leads in your Top 150 Group will sabotage all of your prospect conversion communications. Be patient - don't cannibalize your leads with communications designed for your Top 150 Group.
What's the deal with 150 people?
One person can't maintain a stable social relationship with more than 150 people. Having too many "close relationships" results in infrequent connection and a shallow relationship with each person.
On average, By Referral Only members have between 100-200 contacts in their Top 150 Group. Your group may have 80 contacts or may have 192 contacts. Don't let the "150" in the title intimidate you or hold you back.
If you're lower than 150, that's fine! You'll see your numbers grow.
If you're higher than 150 that's fine, just promise me this: I've spent time narrowing down my contacts to only my close relationships and I've given my list the thought and respect it deserves.
Don't just go with your list of 300 because it already exists. It's time to shake up your routine.
Schedule time on your calendar to work on your list. You'll be surprised at how much you get done in an hour, and the investment will be worth the return. If what you were doing before was working, you wouldn't be here reading this - trust me.
